New York-based Leopard Solutions is claiming litigation finance company Legalist Inc. stole “enormous swaths” of the legal database’s proprietary content through a free trial subscription period to make its own set of data and marketing list.
Technology-enabled litigation funder Legalist has announced the addition of Anand Upadhye, former VP for Business Development at Casetext, as Director of Investments, and Jaemin Chang, a former trial attorney and business adviser at Fox Rothschild, as Assistant General Counsel.
Legalist has raised US $50 million for its first bankruptcy fund. The San Francisco-based company will provide debtor-in-possession financing to small and lower-middle-market businesses in bankruptcy, with a typical loan in the range of $1 million to $10 million.
