CASL backs class action by South Coast Aboriginal Peoples of New South Wales

CASL is backing a class action commenced by JGA Saddler in the Federal Court of Australia on behalf of all the South Coast Aboriginal Peoples of New South Wales. The claim alleges that the State of New South Wales, through its Fisheries officers, unlawfully interfered with the practice of traditional fishing rights and customs of class members, breaching the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and causing significant harm and losses to class members.
