CAT certifies two class actions against Amazon

The UK Competition Appeal Tribunal has certified two separate opt-out collective actions against Amazon over its alleged anticompetitive conduct in the online marketplace, but has elected not to rule on the legality of the class representatives’ LFAs at this time, stating: “The fact that we do not reject [FourWorld’s] remuneration at this stage as excessive should not be taken as in any way an indication that we approve the specified funder’s fee. We do find that it could potentially result in an exceptionally high return […]. We have determined only that the question of whether the total funder’s fee is unreasonable is for more detailed consideration at another time.”
