Court of Appeal throws door to UPC wide open for litigation ensurers

The Unified Patent Court of Appeal has ruled that litigation insurance can be considered when assessing security for costs in UPC cases, a decision expected to make funded patent litigation more accessible to SMEs and non-practising entities by reducing the need for large cash or bank guarantee deposits.
