Deminor backs football players' class action against FIFA and EU football associations

Deminor is funding a class action launched in the Netherlands against the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and several national football associations on behalf of former and current professional football players, men and women, who have played for football clubs in the EU and the UK since 2002. The class action is being brought by “Justice for Players”, a Dutch foundation which has instructed Netherlands-based law firm Finch Dispute Resolution. The claim alleges that the rights of professional football players and their earnings were compromised as a result of FIFA’s rules on termination of contracts and transfers. Approximately 100,000 players are estimated to have been affected.
