Elevate Becomes 1st Law Company to Receive ‘ABS License’ in US

Elevate has become the first non-lawyer-owned law company in the United States. For decades, ethics rules of the various US states prohibited ownership of law firms by non-lawyers, (except in Washington DC, in certain circumstances). In 2020, Arizona became the first state to eliminate this prohibition. Elevate’s application was approved unanimously by the Arizona Supreme Court in late 2021.
