Florida lawmaker revives push to regulate third-party litigation financing

In the US, following news that New York state enacted legislation to regulate consumer litigation financing, Washington state is also considering a bill with bipartisan support to introduce litigation funding restrictions, while a revived Florida proposal would tighten oversight of third-party litigation funding by capping funder returns below plaintiffs’ recoveries, mandating disclosure and limits on funder influence, and adding foreign-funder transparency requirements.
