Georgia Limits Outside Funders’ Control of Suits in New Law

A new Georgia bill regulating the litigation funding industry has been signed into law. The new law makes funding agreements discoverable in court and bans funders from directing funded cases, including having a say in legal counsel selections and settlement decisions. It also includes new registration requirements and prohibits certain foreign entities from backing cases in the state’s courts.
