Government unveils light-touch class action reform

The UK government has proposed “light-touch reforms” (accessible here) to the Competition Appeal Tribunal’s opt-out regime that would assess funder returns at certification, presume payment when damages are awarded, potentially permit DBAs and strengthen costs and settlement rules, while rejecting any expansion of collective actions beyond competition law.
