Hundreds of rugby brain injury claims in jeopardy

Hundreds of claimant cases in the funder-backed rugby brain injury litigation are at risk of being struck out after claimant firm Rylands Garth lost an appeal and was ordered to comply with sweeping medical disclosure obligations to defendants including World Rugby, Rugby Football Union, Welsh Rugby Union and Rugby Football League, with the High Court sharply criticising systemic disclosure failures and warning that a majority of claims could now fall away ahead of 2026 case management hearings.
