Inability to afford a lawyer “cannot delay proceedings”, says master

The High Court has rejected a request by a defendant to stay an action brought by a litigation funder on the basis of impecuniosity, with the Court ruling that “it is a sad fact of legal life” in the modern world that people without the necessary funding for litigation nevertheless must carry on their litigation”.
