Insurance Company Alleges Fraud Scheme with Staged Accidents and Litigation‐Driven Medicine

Sean Ferrito, Kelly Jones Howell and Kari Indusi of Harris Beach Murtha reveal that Greater New York Mutual Insurance has filed a 207 page civil RICO suit in federal court alleging a coordinated personal injury fraud network involving law firms, medical providers, runners, claimants and litigation funders that allegedly staged accidents, inflated medical treatment and leveraged New York’s duty to defend rules to pressure insurers into settlements.
