J&J's $5.5 billion talc deal closes off US claims, but its UK exposure is only just starting

Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay $5.5 billion to resolve about 76,000 US ovarian cancer claims, subject to 95% claimant approval, providing funders and insurers with a major new mass-tort valuation benchmark while leaving future US claims, legacy insurance coverage disputes and a separate UK action involving more than 7,000 claimants untouched.
