Justice charity gets £3.7m unclaimed settlement windfall amid controversy over low take-up of class action damages

The Competition Appeal Tribunal has directed that £3.7 million in unclaimed damages from a £25 million rail fare settlement be awarded to the Access to Justice Foundation, while flagging the “very low” claimant take-up and allowing intervention from campaigners critical of collective actions and litigation funding.
