Louisiana law places new rules on litigation funders
Louisiana’s governor has signed a bill imposing new restrictions on litigation funders which is set to take effect next month, including a requirement that funding in civil actions by litigation funders from a “foreign country of concern” be disclosed, a prohibition on funders from influencing or directing the parties in cases in which they invest, and a provision that makes the existence of a litigation funding contract subject to discovery in civil actions.
