PE, Hedge Funds Are Barred From Steering Law Firms in California

California has enacted legislation barring private equity firms, hedge funds and litigation funders from directing or influencing law firms they finance, while expressly preserving non-recourse litigation funding arrangements where funders do not interfere with the practice of law.
