Ruby Princess passengers win class action lawsuit against Carnival Australia over COVID outbreak on ill-fated voyage

The Federal Court of Australia has ruled that Carnival Australia was negligent and engaged in misleading representations over the 2020 voyage of the Ruby Princess, which was linked to 28 deaths and around 700 COVID-19 infections, in a class action funded by Balance Legal Capital. Meanwhile, Shine Lawyers, who are representing the plaintiffs, are calling on Carnival to “do the right thing and compensate all the passengers rather than prolong the matter through further litigation”.
