South American investor backs Nera with £50 million mandate

A South America-based investor has committed £50 million to Nera Capital, bolstering the UK funder’s capital base and underscoring continued cross-border appetite for litigation finance despite heightened regulatory scrutiny of the asset class.
Under the mandate, Nera will act as asset manager for the capital, overseeing underwriting, structuring, deployment, and ongoing portfolio management across a range of UK-based claims. The firm said the funds will be allocated to selected legal assets consistent with its existing investment criteria and risk management framework.
Robin Grant, Nera’s chief financial officer, said the appointment as asset manager reflects alignment between the investor’s experience in complex transactions and Nera’s underwriting approach. The commitment, he added, strengthens the platform’s ability to deliver risk-adjusted returns to funding partners.
