SRA: Claims firms “destabilised” by litigation funding deals

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is revealing early findings from its thematic review of the high-volume consumer claims sector, saying that relationships with litigation funders are destabilising some high-volume consumer claims law firms, leading to unstable business models and potential harm to clients. The review highlighted concerns about firms prioritising commercial interests over clients' best interests, inadequate client information on costs and alternatives, and inappropriate relationships among funders, ATE insurance providers and experts.
