Taking judgments to the bank before the final win

An insurance policy that Appian Corporation took out following its trial court victory has added $500 million in market cap to the software company, since it now stands to receive that $500 million even if the losing party fails to pay, Appian loses the case on appeal or has its judgment reduced.
