‘Everybody Wins’ as Sysco Hands Burford Control of Lawsuits; Tyson Cries Foul Over Burford Substitution in Sysco Settlement
Sysco and Burford’s dispute over the direction of Sysco’s antitrust suit against poultry and beef processors has been resolved, with Sysco agreeing to assign its claims to a Burford entity which will become the plaintiff in the suit and will be represented by Sysco’s original law firm, Boies Schiller Flexner. Meanwhile, the judge overseeing the suit indicated that he will hold hearings to review Sysco’s requests to substitute the Burford affiliate as the lead plaintiff, after the defendants said they need more information on the plan, and complained that Burford’s role in the litigation remains “shrouded in mystery”.
