Why Burford’s New YPF Claim Keeps Argentina’s Biggest Legal Risk Alive

Burford Capital has reportedly refiled its YPF claim against Argentina at ICSID. The claim is brought for the Petersen companies under the Argentina-Spain investment treaty. The Second Circuit reversed the $16.1 billion New York judgment in March. ICSID has registered the filing, and a tribunal must now be formed. No claim amount is public. Rio Times reports that no claim has been filed for Eton Park, the second New York claimant.
