Woodsford backs phantom braking class against Tesla

Woodsford is providing funding for a class action filed by JGA Saddler against Tesla Australia and Tesla US, accusing the company of marketing and selling defective vehicles, resulting in dangerous and potentially fatal ‘phantom braking’. Phantom braking is a phenomenon where a vehicle is in auto-pilot mode and the vehicle applies the brakes for no apparent reason. The promises that have allegedly not been fulfilled cover issues such as vehicles failing to meet even 75% of the advertised driving range or self-driving features, for which an additional premium is paid, not functioning. The action covers various Tesla models sold or leased from 25 May 2021.
